Nuclear Energy (2022)

Abstract: This report comprehensively introduces the latest progress of China’s

nuclear energy industry development in 2021 from 9 aspects. In 2021, the number
of China’s commercial nuclear power units has reached 51, and the nuclear power
generation has increased by 11.17% compared to last year. The scale of nuclear power

units under construction has continued to be the largest in the world. A series of new
achievements have been made in nuclear energy technological innovation. Nuclear fuel

cycle industry, nuclear power equipment manufacturing, nuclear industry management
and safety assurance, nuclear talent team assurance capabilities have been continuously
improved. International cooperation in nuclear energy has continued to deepen, and
new progress has been made in the application of nuclear technology. Currently, the

development of China’s nuclear energy industry has entered a new stage of “actively,
safely and orderly”. Looking forward to the future, the scale of nuclear power installed

capacity will further increase, the layout of nuclear power is expected to be more
balanced, the innovation of nuclear technology will better enable the high-quality
development of the nuclear energy industry, the multi-purpose utilization of nuclear
