Abstract

global nuclear energy market including the Chinese market still faces many challenges
such as the safety, economics, radioactive waste management, and public acceptance.

To actively cope with these challenges, improve nuclear safety and nuclear economics,
strictly manage and control spent fuels and radioactive wastes, achieve closed fuel cycle,
and improve public acceptance will be an inevitable choice for China's nuclear energy
development.

Future 30 years will provide an important historical opportunity for nuclear
energy development in China, and it is also a critical stage for building a powerful

country of nuclear power. Nuclear energy will still play an important role in China's
energy system. The total nuclear installed capacity will reach 120-150 GW by 2030,
and the share of nuclear power will account for 10%-12%, which is close to the

average level of global nuclear power generation. China's nuclear energy will present a
development pattern with the self-developed third generation technology as the main
matched with advanced nuclear energy systems. The popularization and application

of modernized information technology will certainly accelerate the safe and efficient
development of nuclear energy industry. The diversified demand of market will steadily
promote the multi-field application of nuclear energy. The "going out" of China's

nuclear power will have broader market space.
